Press Release: Jewish settlers open fire on demonstrators at a checkpoint near Jenin and soldiers do
2002-04-10
(National Democratic Assembly): Several hundreds of Palestinian citizens of Israel arrived earlier today to the Israeli checkpoint near Jenin in an attempt to break the ongoing siege and to take some food and medicine to the Palestinians who suffer a severe shortage in basic needs such as food and water.
Soon after the arrival of the Arab demonstrators to the checkpoint, Jewish settlers from nearby settlements opened fire on them under the very eyes of the Israeli soldiers who did absolutely nothing to protect the lives of the people under fire. On the contrary, the only intervention the soldiers occasionally made was hostility towards the demonstrators.
Up to this point, the shooting is still going on and a few injuries have already been reported. One female demonstrator has been shot in the arm, another young man was hurt. We have no information about his injury yet. We strongly conedmn this event and we remind that the attacked are citizens of the state of Israel!!
