THE military commander in charge of interrogating terror suspects at Camp X-Ray said yesterday he wants to send them home.
Major General Michael Dunlavey said: "Our goal is to repatriate them and send them home."
His comments are in stark contrast to President Bush's desire to execute prisoners even if convicted on hearsay and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld's assertion they won't go free even if cleared.
The prisoners, including Briton Feroz Abbasi, 22, have been labelled the "worst of the worst", but Maj Dunlavey said five have been diagnosed as psychotic and several could be foot soldiers "caught up in the excitement of the moment".
