Blair: Middle East conflict may worsen

Tony Blair today warned that the bloodshed in the Middle East could get worse before any political process is in place, telling MPs it was now "a genuine crisis".
The Commons spent more than 90 minutes discussing the violence in the Middle East, as the topic dominated prime minister's question time, and then was resumed as Mr Blair took to the dispatch box to make an unprecedented statement on the emergency.

In a thinly veiled reference to the nuclear capabilities of Israel and perhaps Iraq, and the huge protests in Arab capitals against Israel, Mr Blair said: "It is hard to overstate the dangers or the potential for this conflict to impact far beyond the region itself", adding "I don't think people yet realise how much worse it could get."
